J. Cole: 4 Your Eyez Only Tour
J. Cole, born in West Germany, has been active since 1999 and calls Fayetteville, North Carolina home. The rapper and hip-hop artists rose to stardom after his release of The Come Up in 2007. The mixtape helped him start his solo career, which he quickly followed up with the release of two additional mixtapes.
Cole World: The Sideline Story was Cole’s debut album in 2011. The album rose to the top of the U.S. Billboard 200 charts and went platinum.
The artist’s next two albums, Born Sinner and Forest Hills Drive, both went certified platinum. Forest Hills Drive received a nomination for Best Rap Album at the Grammy Awards. The rapper’s next album, 4 Your Eyez Only, was released in December 2016.
The album also went platinum and hit the top spot on the Billboard 200 charts.
Cole, known as a self-taught pianist, has also helped produce singles for several artists, such as Janet Jackson and Kendrick Lamar. The 4 Your Eyez Only World Tour is in support of Cole’s fourth studio album of the same name.
The tour is set to have 62 total shows with 40 in North America, 17 in Europe and 5 in Oceania. The tour also includes Dreamville artists, including Lute, Ari Lennox and J.I.D. The second leg of the tour will feature Anderson, Paak and Bas as opening acts. The European leg of the tour will include opening acts Ari Lennox, EarthGang and J.I.D.
The tour’s set list includes nineteen songs in total. The list includes a lot of his classics, but you’ll also start the show with “For Whom the Bell Tolls” and end the night on a high note with “4 Your Eyez Only.”
Europeans shows will run through the end of September through October 22. Shows will kick off in Copenhagen and end in Leeds.
J.I.D. is a rapper from Atlanta who was signed to Dreamville Records and opens a lot of the shows. He signed with the record label in 2017 and released his full-length album in March 2017, titled The Never Story.
Ari Lennox’s 2015 album Revenge of the Dreamers II was a major hit reaching the #3 position on the U.S. rap charts. Paak, active longer than most of the opening acts, has been active since 2009 and released his most recent album, Yes Lawd! In October 2016. The album peaked at the #59 spot on the US charts.
Bas, a rapper from France, will also join the European leg of the tour. Too High to Riot, his 2016 album, also reached the top 50 on the US charts.
