TLC

The popular 90s girl group TLC is back with new music and a tour across Europe. After more than a decade hiatus, the duo has released their final album TLC. The album is the first after the death of Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes.

The duo is on tour to promote their latest release, but was forced to reschedule due to T-Boz sustaining an injury while performing shows in the U.S.

The tour was originally scheduled to start on October 16 in Hamburg, Germany and wrap up on November 16 in Birmingham, UK. Fans have been encouraged to return their tickets for a full refund, although the group says it will be rescheduling the dates.

TLC achieved commercial success in the 1990s, despite run-ins with the law, spats with each other and fights with their recording label. The original group performed as a trio, with members Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, Rozanda “Chilli” Thomas and Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes.

TLC had nine top-ten hits with the founding members, including “No Scrubs,” “Creep,” “Waterfalls,” and “Unpretty.”

The band also released four multi-platinum albums, including Ooooooohhh… On the TLC Tip, FanMail, CrazySexyCool, and 3D.

Their album CrazySexyCool is still the only album from a female group to be certified diamond by the RIAA. The band was also the first R&B group in history to receive the Recording Industry Association of Japan’s Million certification for their FanMail album.

TLC has sold more than 65 million records worldwide and remains the best-selling girl group in the United States. The group is second worldwide, just behind the Spice Girls.

In 2002, following an unsuccessful attempt at a solo release and while working on a second solo album, Lisa “Left-Eye” Lopes was killed in a car accident while filming a documentary in Honduras.

The documentary was later released on VH1 as The Last Days of Left Eye.

Following a short hiatus, T-Boz and Chilli completed the remainder of the group’s fourth album 3D.

The group decided to carry on as a duo instead of replacing Left-Eye.

Their fifth and final album TLC has spawned the singles “Way Back” featuring Snoop Dogg. The group also released two singles in Japan: “Haters” and “Joyride.” The song “Joyride” peaked at number one on iTunes’ R&B chart in Japan.

TLC is considered the second most successful girl band of all time on the Billboard charts, second only to The Supremes. The group has 22 million certified album sales.
